Course Description

This course deals with evaluation of the deterioration of urban infrastructure assets and the design and implementation of adaptive reuse rehabilitation measures. Topics discussed include corrosion of reinforcement in concrete, microbiological corrosion of metal, buried pipelines, cables, asphalt deterioration and repair, deterioration of timber in buildings, and issues of sustainability in adaptive reuse of infrastructure. Techniques and treatments to reduce deterioration in new construction are also covered.
