Explore a career in applied research with a Program Evaluation certificate

Revisiting and refining are an important part of making something better. The Chang School is proud to help train more professionals in this growing field with our new Postgraduate Certificate in Program Evaluation, launching in Fall 2024.

Do you have an advanced degree in research-intensive fields like business, humanities, health, arts, social science, education, or life sciences but want a career outside academia? Or are you already working in a related role and need a credential to boost your experience? Program evaluation is a great option, with many different fascinating career paths and roles available.

The program evaluation certificate’s learning outcomes are mapped to Canadian Evaluation Society competencies, and will teach you the fundamentals of program evaluation, applied research, stakeholder and project management, and organizational dynamics. All our program evaluation courses have an experiential learning component built in, too, so the assignments mimic the kind of deliverables expected of a working evaluator.

You can work in a wide array of sectors, including federal and provincial government, education, law enforcement, community services, Indigenous advocacy groups, charities, think tanks and research groups, and management consultancies.

Our program also has a strong focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. You’ll learn how to use the tools and methodologies of evaluation appropriately, equitably, and ethically in the evaluation process, and how to work with vulnerable populations and traditionally marginalized groups.

Excited to start or boost your program evaluation career? You can complete your program evaluation certificate online and finish it in as little as one year. If you’re ready to help create more fair and equitable processes and programs, come start this certificate today.
