Become a trusted strategic learning advisor who drives business impact

Ready to elevate your L&D role from practitioner to strategic partner? The Chang School Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Learning Design helps mid-career L&D professionals build the confidence, credibility, and strategic advisory capability needed to influence decisions and shape business outcomes.

Guided by industry professionals, you’ll deepen the skills required to diagnose performance challenges, analyse root causes, and recommend solutions that deliver measurable business impact. You’ll learn how to apply strategic frameworks, evaluate technologies, and communicate evidence-based recommendations in ways that resonate with leadership.

This isn’t a tactical instructional design course or a tool-focused bootcamp. It’s designed for practitioners who already understand how to design learning. Through real-world scenarios and applied assessments, you’ll strengthen the strategic mindset and consulting approaches that position you as a trusted internal partner – someone who can confidently advocate for the right solutions and align learning strategy with organizational goals.

You’ll also gain experience collaborating with leadership and key stakeholders, using data, evaluation methods and business language to demonstrate impact. Because the skills you develop are highly transferable, you’ll be able to work across a wide range of sectors, including post-secondary education, banking, health care, and employment services.

Along the way, you’ll expand your professional network by learning alongside other mid-career professionals who are also advancing toward strategic roles.

You’ve already been driving results through learning design. Now it’s time to deepen your strategic influence and strengthen your advisory role. We’re here to help you take that next step.

Who should take this certificate?

You are an ideal fit if:

  • You’re a mid-career learning and development, instructional design or learning experience design professional ready to expand your credibility, advisory capability, and career opportunities.
  • You’re a mid-career professional who works in fields like HR, facilitation, instruction, training coordination, technical writing, or project management or similar roles – and you want to build deeper strategic alignment with learning design teams, or open new pathways into L&D leadership roles.

What will you learn?

You’ll learn how to:

  • Apply a consulting mindset to diagnose performance challenges, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate learning or non-learning solutions aligned with performance goals.
  • Analyse learning needs to ensure solutions align with organizational and business goals and drive meaningful results.
  • Design learning experiences using evidence-based learning theory and human-centred principles to address real performance needs.
  • Develop and apply evaluation strategies that use data and analytics to measure learning effectiveness and turn findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Build and present strong business cases that communicate the value, cost, and expected impact of learning solutions in the language of business.
  • Evaluate and choose learning technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools, while considering impact, ethical implications, learner experience, and organizational fit.
