Design a rewarding technologist career with an Architecture certificate

Want to succeed in the architecture, engineering, or construction industries? The Chang School Certificate in Architecture will teach you how to use the digital architecture technology that employers are looking for.

Master must-have programs like AutoCAD and Revit, and grow your knowledge around building regulations and policies, sustainable building practices, and building materials for the Canadian climate. Many of our instructors are leading, licensed, and practicing architects working in the field, so they bring real-world expertise to all our architecture courses – and can help you begin building your professional network before you even graduate.

This six-course online architecture program is the only one of its kind available and is shorter than similar programs offered at other schools. Because it isn’t a full-time program, you can continue working and get the certification you need.

Job postings for “architect” and “architectural technologists” saw a 60 percent increase between 2020 and 2021, according to Burning Glass Labour Market Insights. Are you ready to start landing these roles? Start your certificate today.

During my career, there have been numerous recessions that have severely impacted the architectural community, resulting in many searching for employment as projects and clients disappeared. I was almost always guaranteed a position since employers understood that TMU grads are capable and could be put to work on virtually any task from day one.

Who should take this Architecture certificate?

  • You hold an undergraduate degree in a related field, such as urban planning, sustainability and sustainable science, economics, design, urban agriculture, civil engineering, or mechanical engineering, and want to enter or excel in the architecture field
  • You’re a new Canadian looking to get Canadian credentials and Canadian-based training to help secure an architectural technologist position

What will you learn while taking the Architecture certificate?

You’ll learn how to:

  • Use Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio MAX, Sketch Up and Adobe Acrobat Suite
  • Apply building codes to computer-aided architectural technologist projects to meet the regulations that govern approved building permits issued for building construction or renovation, including adherence to commercial, municipal and provincial planning standards
  • Plan within computer-aided architectural technologist projects for the utilization of building materials required for Canada’s northern climate and for sustainable building construction, preservation and renewal, including LEED and Net Zero building science principles
  • Implement solutions to technology and planning issues that northern climate architects, architectural technologists, and building science professionals need to deal with when designing, constructing or preserving buildings with full regulatory compliance
  • Comply with green building and LEED rating system requirements in new buildings or building conservation, including use of materials and methods and assurance of indoor environmental quality, and deployment of up-to-date digital architecture technologies when completing architectural drafting and drawing projects for new building design and construction or for adaptive re-use of building
  • Stand out from the competition by learning how to build presentation and communication skills on top of architectural skills
