Course Description

Students will learn and develop the fundamentals of performing on two traditional Korean drums: the Janggo (the Hourglass Drum) and the Buk (Barrel Drum). Students will learn a short arrangement of traditional rhythms in preparation for a public performance. The ensemble will learn how to progress through the arrangement responding to cues performed by the instructor. No experience in drumming or music is necessary.

Learn some traditional rhythms on Korean drums and join in the Korean drum ensemble! Using this very engaging performance tradition, this course focuses on ensemble playing and music participation. No experience in drumming or music is necessary. With low barriers to entry, participants can begin playing in the ensemble almost immediately.
