Course Description

Plays do many things - they entertain, they illuminate, they can teach, preach, dazzle, and perplex. But the soul of any play, from the most naturalistic to the most absurd, lies in conflict. There is no such thing as a "Theatre of Agreement". Using group and individual writing exercises, lecture, and discussion, this workshop will help writers bring vitality to their work by inserting meaningful, substantial conflict into their plays without relying on clichés.
