CSMU 500 - Toronto Metropolitan University Concert Choir
Course Description
Do you long to sing? Come join the Toronto Metropolitan University Concert Choir (TMUCC) and belt your heart out alongside fellow music-lovers in both regular rehearsals and live performances.
CSMU 500 – Toronto Metropolitan University Choir provides the technical skills and in-depth musical training to help you become the best choral performer you can be. You’ll also earn a university credential in the process!
We provide a supportive, welcoming environment; our intergenerational choir is open to all TMU undergraduate and graduate students, continuing-education learners, faculty, lecturers, and staff, along with TMU alumni and any singers from the wider GTA community. Applicants should have basic sight-reading skills and must audition to join the choir, but we welcome singers of all experience levels.
The choir performs an excitingly wide variety of music, ranging from classical greats like Mozart and Vivaldi to modern bops. We also prioritize pieces by traditionally underrepresented women, LGBTQ+, and Indigenous composers.
A rehearsal accompanist helps us sound our best, every session. Then, you can show off your new singing skills at two major concerts per year, as well as at TMU campus events throughout the year, where we occasionally have professional soloists and orchestras accompany us.
Raise your voice in song with us, and soar your vocal talents to new heights.
