CHIM 305 - Introduction to Health Informatics
Course Description
This course introduces how information technology is applied in healthcare services. Several concepts, including electronic health records (EHR), eHealth, "infostructure" and their applications in the practice of evidence-based management are explored. A specific focus is on implementing EHR in Canada and other jurisdictions. Ethical issues and health information management are studied. Students also learn how simple software applications are used in healthcare domains.Notes
Online course sections are primarily asynchronous, except for the one-hour weekly live online sessions. In addition to the live sessions, you will engage in course-related activities through online tools such as announcements, discussions, and email to complement your independent learning. Note: There will be deadlines for assignment submissions, and you may be expected to participate in discussion board interactions with your peers on a regular basis.
