What is Privacy by Design?

Privacy by Design is a globally recognized framework developed by Dr. Ann Cavoukian that embeds privacy directly into the design of technologies, systems, and business practices, rather than addressing it after risks or breaches occur.

This approach challenges the idea that privacy must come at the expense of innovation. Instead, it promotes a “positive-sum” model — where privacy, security, and data use can coexist, helping organizations build systems that are both effective and trusted.

Learner Experience

I started with the Privacy by Design online course, which really took advantage of the online platform with professionally shot videos, interactive quizzes, and links to the latest content. The final course project allowed me to do some practical, substantive work.
