Course Description

This course will focus on the director’s creative growth beyond the practical responsibilities of directing for the stage. After an overview of the director’s role (workflow, scheduling, working with actors), we’ll jump into tools and exercises aimed at sharpening the director’s point-of-view, their vision. Through on-our-feet experimentation using improv games, we will actively develop mental and creative flexibility, encouraging directors to get specific and bold in their choices to unearth their unique creative voice. Each director will prepare and present one short piece in a public performance. The course culminates with an in-depth post-mortem. Recommended for directors with some experience.
