Course Description

This course looks at the Bob Fosse classic which was released in 1972 through the lens of this groundbreaking film as well as later stage productions as well as through Christopher Isherwood's stories which inspired the film, Goodbye to Berlin and his memoir Christopher and his Kind as well two novels written at the same time that give a remarkable picture of Berlin in the 1930s - Stephen Spender's The Temple and Irmgard Keun's After Midnight - it considers the importance of looking at history, politics, culture through the arts.
