CHSM 437 - Human Resources Management in Healthcare
Course Description
This course will increase the understanding of the processes involved in merging human talents, needs and aspirations with the requirements of the client-centred health services organization. It builds on the theory and practice of leadership and communication skills, to develop skills and knowledge in human resources planning, recruitment, selection and evaluation. Topics include job analysis, performance appraisal, compensation, quality of working life, continuing professional education, collective bargaining, employee rights, career planning, etc. A case study approach will be used. Online course sections are primarily asynchronous, except for the one-hour weekly live online sessions. In addition to the live sessions, you will engage in course-related activities through online tools such as announcements, discussions, and email to complement your independent learning. Note: There will be deadlines for assignment submissions, and you may be expected to participate in discussion board interactions with your peers on a regular basis.
