Course Description

This course allows students to focus on a project within one of the university's Zones, either as founders or as partners with an existing team. Students will improve their knowledge through engaged experiential learning while developing their social and collaborative skills as part of a team and/or a Zone-community. Students must apply for and be accepted as members of one of the Zones in order to take this course.

What to Expect

Through bi-weekly group presentations and discussions, you will explore, gain knowledge, and develop key skills including creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, experimentation, communication, risk, uncertainty, and more. You will also participate in bi-weekly individual and/or paired conversations that allow you to hone in on your own goals and make progress towards growing your project.

Who should take this course?

CZON 100 is designed for anyone ready to start, launch, or grow a project. The course uses both group sessions and one-on-one guidance from an instructor, giving learners an immersive, hands-on learning experience where they can gain deeper insights into the skills and competencies needed to drive a project forward.

Learners registered in the Aging and Gerontology certificate may take this course as an elective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be accepted as a member of a TMU Zone to take this course?

You do not need to be a member of a Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Zone to take CZON 100; however, this course requires permission to enrol. Please contact zonelearning@torontomu.ca with your request and ensure to include your student number.

What projects can you work on in CZON 100?

CZON 100 is an elective course that is designed to help you start, launch, and grow your passion project. Your project may explore any area of interest, provided it demonstrates practical application and is actively launched, tested, or grown in the real world.
