Course Description

This course investigates the realities and experiences of Indigenous people and families during the childbearing year and how they are shaped by Indigenous ways of knowing, being and living as well as the intergenerational effects of colonialism. Through a decolonized lens, students examine issues affecting health and wellness balanced with critical analysis around the role of Indigenous midwives in their communities, working as allies, and providing culturally safe care and support.
