Course Description

This course focuses on re-speaking, technologies, sources of error, paraphrasing, and software  options related to closed captioning (CC). Through lectures and hands-on practice students are introduced to software-creating CC. Upon completion, students will be able to identify the  technologies associated with the production and distribution of CC, outline the variety of errors in  CC, create equivalent paraphrased captions that maintain meaning, and produce CC for one 5- minute segment for television and for online video.

Andrea Ducent is a veteran broadcast professional specializing in offline and live closed captioning. As a senior closed captioning editor in the industry, Andrea will facilitate re-speaking training in preparation for an industry career.
