Course Description

This course is an introduction to Latin American literature and criticism from the 1960s and 1970s. We will study major authors from several Spanish-speaking countries to understand the "boom" not only in terms of the international success of Latin American authors but also as a cultural movement. Major authors to be studied include Julio Cortázar, Carlos Fuentes, Mario Vargas Llosa and Gabriel García Márquez. Students will examine literary works and articles from various sources.

Notes

All students must take an interview/placement assessment before enrolling in this course.

Prerequisite: CSPN 601  or placement test required (www.torontomu.ca/llc/)
