CVNU 200 – Transition to Practice is approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (www.cno.org). Nursing registration applicants who successfully complete the Council-approved Transition to Practice Course will meet CNO’s ninth requirement to support their application for registration.
Developed in collaboration with the CARE Centre for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs), this 10-week fully online course provides a comprehensive learning experience, combining foundational theory, assignments, and live online sessions led by instructors with nursing expertise and extensive experience teaching IENs. Each week, you will participate in a three-hour live synchronous session with your instructor and cohort to deepen your understanding of the readings and assignments.
Learning is structured around weekly modules and activities, allowing you to work independently at your own pace. Weekly live sessions via web conferencing tools like Zoom or Google Meet offer opportunities for competency integration, Q&A, and interactive discussions with your instructor.
Detailed course information, including the course outline, will be provided on the first day of class. Assignments have set deadlines, and regular participation in peer discussions on the course's discussion boards is expected to foster collaboration and engagement. A mandatory ungraded pre-course quiz will be administered before the first day to better tailor the learning experience to the needs of the cohort.
