Course Description

An ideal discussion seminar for theatre lovers and students of playwriting, directing, and acting. Contemporary British dramatists pushed the boundaries of the art with revolutionary structural approaches and provocative subject matter. Our focus will be Tom Stoppard, one of the greatest wordsmiths in the English language.  So intertwined are wit, heart and philosophy in his writing that his works reward close reading. Together we’ll uncover the layers of joy and imagination that run through his plays. Plays to be discussed, in order, are Jumpers, Travesties, The Real Thing and Arcadia.
