Communication and Design Intensives
Summer Film School
Our intensive Summer Film School option offers the unique opportunity to learn the basics of filmmaking and earn a Certificate in Film Studies in just 12 weeks. The focus of the program is on production, and you will have the opportunity to create a number of short films, discover your creative potential, and demonstrate your acquired skills and knowledge. The Summer Film School will run May 6–August, 8, 2024.
Community Services Accelerated Options
Certificate in Local Economic Development (LED)
Starting in Spring/Summer 2023, complete your entire LED certificate in just four months – all four courses will be available during the Spring/Summer term. (You can also choose to take the selected courses that suit your spring/summer schedule and complete the remainder during another term.)
- Accelerated versions of the first and second courses – Local Economic Development Fundamentals and Economic Development and Business Improvement – allow you to attend Friday evening classes online and be on campus on Saturday and Sunday. Each course can be completed over two weekends in May.
- The third and fourth courses – LED Applied Research Project and Capstone Project in LED* – are fully online, self-paced, project-based courses that take place during the months of June, July, and August.

Certificate in Indigenous Knowledges and Experiences (IKE)
Starting in Spring/Summer 2023, complete your entire IKE certificate in just four months – all four courses will be available during the Spring/Summer term. (You can also choose to take the selected courses that suit your spring/summer schedule and complete the remainder during another term.)
- Accelerated versions of the first and second courses – Introduction to Indigenous Worldviews and Canada's Story: An Indigenous Perspective – are offered in an online, condensed format. Each course can be completed in one week in May.
- If you choose to take the elective Indigenous Peoples, Politics and Reconciliation as your third course, this one-week course is also offered in an online, condensed format during the last week of May.
- Complete your certificate by taking your fourth fully online, self-paced, project based course – Indigenous Knowledges in Practice – in June and July.
