CDID 151 - Interior Design I: Drafting

Course Description

The first of a series of courses providing an introduction to four primary performance objectives which relate to drafting, planning and research, professional ethics, and the sensory environment. The focus of this course is visual communication to provide the student with a foundation in manual drafting practices through a series of drawing exercises relating to small scale residential interior spaces. CDID 151, combined with CDID 152, CDID 251, and CDID 252, is equivalent to IRN 100 and IRN 200.

In this course, students build an awareness of drawing and drafting skills through projects using drafting equipment by looking at the design concept development phase: sketches and measured drawings are made using pencil, paper, tracing paper roll, architectural scale and drafting tape (or masking tape). Online lectures prepare students to work on projects at home that introduce the basic orthogonal drawing techniques along with drawing and design exercises.
