Course Description

Are you interested in creative writing but don’t know where to start? This workshop is designed for those who are curious about creative writing and would like to try out a number of writing styles (poetry, fiction, nonfiction) and techniques. Participants will gain insight into the craft of creative writing, begin to develop their own practice and will read and respond to the work of their peers. Through ongoing writing activities, participants generate a portfolio of their best work.

Casey PlettCasey Plett

Casey Plett is the author of Little Fish and A Safe Girl to Love. She is the winner of the Amazon First Novel Award and the Firecracker Award for Fiction, and she is a two-time winner of the Lambda Literary Best Transgender Fiction Award. She co-edited Meanwhile, Elsewhere: Science Fiction and Fantasy From Transgender Writers, which won the ALA Stonewall Barbara Gittings Literature Award, and she has written for The New York Times, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Maclean's, and them, among other publications.
